Moscow, Minsk in active talks over gas price for Belarus after 2020
BREST, Belarus, Apr 4 (PRIME) -- Minsk and Moscow are in active negotiations on a natural gas price for Belarus after January 1, 2020, Russian ambassador to Belarus Mikhail Babich told reporters on Thursday.
“You know that we are constantly holding these negotiations, and we are in constant contact with our colleagues. Every issue has its stages. And we are on schedule, we are holding the negotiations in accordance with our plans. We are now holding active negotiations on this,” he said.
It takes time as bilateral agreements of the two countries and the Eurasian accords force the states consider all issues in an integrated way, he said.
Previously, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said that Minsk planned to agree with Moscow until July on creation of a transitional period for Belarus from 2020, when the current gas supply contract expires, until 2025, when the Eurasian Economic Union is supposed to establish a common gas market.
